Iron Mountain

About once a year, (wish it was more) we head out into the Uintahs and visit my grandma's land, Iron Mountain.  It's such a beautiful place smack-dab in the middle of the state forest so it's kind of far out there.  The land is beautiful though, just gorgeous, especially in the spring and the fall.  The quaking aspens turn bright yellow and orange and their leaves shimmer in the wind.  It's the neatest sight to see.

So we all head up there, chop down a tree for the winter's firewood, go on little hikes, roast some dogs and some smores, and then we're on our way.  My kind of camping...

I played around with the exposure a little bit to try and truly capture how orange the trees get.  I mean, they really do look like they are on fire.

Our new favorite trail mix from Target.  It's like equal parts candy and nuts, and only the good nuts.

Isla was loving it.  But the white shirt was a bad decision on my part.  Luckily it was white again after the wash!

 The set-up.

Loie was desperate to roast a hot dog.  Please ignore the fact that I am a terrible mom with no real outdoorsy clothing for my children or myself. (note the sandals and no socks or shoes for loie.)

Mountain woman trying to chop logs for the fire.  Took forever just to chop two sections off and then my dad came over with the chainsaw and finished up in two seconds. Geez.

Grandma with the Lo-dogger... and the dog.  And Isla trying to jump rope with Brisky's leash.

Always a good time.  Always wish we went up there more.  Maybe next year...
