Grandpa Frandsen

June 27, 1933 - May 22, 2010

You are loved and will be missed.

I've copied this excerpt from the obit, so that family can more easily access it.

Dean LaRay Frandsen, age 76, passed away May 22, 2010, in St. George, Utah. He was born June 27, 1933, in Kimball, Idaho, to Loomis Lynn and Lillian Fidilia Stutznegger Frandsen. He married Jacqulyn Black Frandsen on June 27, 1959, in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Dean was raised in various towns surrounding Blackfoot, Idaho, and then in Manti, Utah. Dean was the fifth of twelve children. He enjoyed an adventurous and memorable boyhood. He graduated from Manti High School in 1952, and enlisted in the army in 1954, where he served in Japan. After concluding his service to our country, he faithfully served an LDS mission in Auckland, New Zealand. Upon return, Dean attended Northrop Institute of Technology in Los Angeles, California. While obtaining his license for Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics he met and married Jacqulyn. Dean took a position with Continental Airlines, in which he worked as an Aircraft Inspector for 39 years. He and Jackie took up residence in Huntington Beach, California, where they raised their four children for nearly 4 decades.

Dean enjoyed spending time with his family and keeping his vehicles perfectly maintained. His love of airplanes extended far beyond his professional life, keeping up with his collection of airplane models, remote control planes and anything that had to do with aircraft. His favorite activities with his kids were water skiing, dirt biking, fishing, football games, bonfires at the beach and an occasional round of golf. He enjoyed the travels he was able to take around the
country with his family. Dean loved to listen to country western music and swooning to the classics.

He faithfully served the Lord in various capacities. Dean served as Ward Financial Clerk for 46 years and most recently as the Stake Finance Clerk. Those that worked along side him thoroughly respected his commitment and appreciated the love he had of his church calling. He enjoyed serving in the temple and spent many hours doing genealogical extraction work. Dean was a “mister fix it” man. He was always available to fix anything for anybody when called upon. He had a very strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and a love for the scriptures.
