We bought a zoo!!

Okay, no we didn't buy a zoo, but we did go to the zoo.  Well, and we watched the movie, 'We Bought a Zoo,' too.  It was really good and Isla loved all the 'gines' and 'bains' in it.  (Translation = lions and zebras).

We went to the Hogle Zoo last Thursday and it was the perfect day to go.  The weather was fabulous and we met up with my friend Katie, who happens to be very pregnant and wanted to walk through those contractions.  (Any day now!)

Isla absolutely LOVED the zoo.  The animals happened to be very active that morning too, so that was nice because it was very easy to see them all instead of the usual 'where's waldo' type of situation where they're always hidden out of sight.   I mean the tiger was literally sleeping up against the window and the gorilla was staring everyone down face to face against the glass.  The gorilla was actually my favorite part because he was so 'right there' and his eyes were so penetrating.  I think that is why Isla was soooo petrified.  It was the only animal she was scared of the entire time.  Petrified is an understatement. Mortified. (See the pic below - this was after we stopped looking at him too, she wouldn't take her hands off her face.)

The best $2 I have ever spent is for that carousel ride.  She was in HEAVEN.

It was a really tough decision between the zebra, lion, and giraffe, but the zebra won.

Gigi!

Maybe next week we'll go to the Bean Museum or the Aquarium to extend our zoo themed week!
